Sparks Camp Episode 3 Review

sparks camp episode 3 review

It has been only three episodes so far, but there are already a ton of surprises.

Bong having a competition with two other campers for Alex's love

(In the pic: Alex received three sparks, leaving Bong wondering who are the other two.)

I'll start off with those that gave positive vibes.

First, Ms. Mela's words of encouragement were something everyone needed to hear. She kept the fire burning for those who still have their hopes up.

Second, Bong and Dan's tenacity to further enhance their relationship with the camper they liked most, was something really encouraging to watch.

Nat, Alex, and Karl in shock

Although... it quite didn't end well for those two. In this episode's challenge, Alex was chosen by Justin to be his partner, so a possible chance for Bong was taken from him.

And... the most heartbreaking was Dan finding out Karl actually wanted to be partnered with Kekisaur (Bong). His sadness was felt outside the screen when he said "Sana di mo pinaparinig sa'kin. That hurts." (Karl's a bit dense, isn't he?)

Things I thought were unexpected...

Nick receives a spark from Aaron.

-Aaron's raising the flag for the Geminis here, and I honestly thought it was a nice gesture.

Justin gives his spark to Alex.

-After saying he's into older guys and having good chemistry with Karl, it was a shocker when he gave his spark to the baby of the campers.

Nick gives his spark to Justin.

Nick smiling at Justin

-Nat choosing Justin wasn't that surprising as he seemed to like him when they were partners from the first challenge. However, in Nick's case, it was indeed out of the blue.

Gabe picked Aaron to be his partner.

-Everyone in the live chat predicting Nat to be Gabe's pick was left scratching their heads when he chose Aaron. It was a total shocker, as Aaron didn't see it coming as well.

The twist at the challenge.

-By now, we should expect that the possible frontrunners in the upcoming challenges won't actually win, or they will not have what they thought they would get.

Dan and Karl losing the second challenge

In the first challenge, Dan failed to have a one-on-one date with Karl. And in the next challenge when he and Karl had a chance of winning again, and possibly having a moment for just the two of them, it was taken away when the jurors decided to give the win to those who have not won yet.

Although honestly speaking, I thought the game mechanics were brilliant. The twists really dropped a bombshell on the campers, and even on us viewers.

Lastly, the one that had me laughing out loud:

Alex making a dirty joke.

Alex joking about receiving an oral in Sparks Camp

For the next episode's teaser... All I can say was whoever's responsible for choosing the clips definitely knows what he/she's doing -- the last clip left me gagging!

PS: Let me just share Ms. Mela's favorite quote again:

"When you smile to the world, the world smiles back at you."
